See the second incident down; tried to update the category inline, this is the result. Is it because we have a "Sub-sub category" in custom fields?
This is the result of setting subcategory as mandatory in setup. If your subcategory is mandatory, you can't do inline editing of categories. Inline editing saves the incident with each change that is made. This results in trying to save your incident with a blank subcategory. If you change this setting, you will be able to do inline editing again.
Hi Tom Kelsall
I would open a ticket with support at firstname.lastname@example.org
It may be something to do with a mandatory field, but it could be an issue with user permissions.
Let me know if there's anything I can do for you
Dedicated to your success,
Maybe there should be some back-end code to remove the "Inline Edit" capability in these circumstances? The "Update Failed, please edit incident" seems to be something of a UX "bork".
I'm glad it's not a bug, anyway; I can explain this to our team. Thanks again.
