Samanage uses an agent based tracking asset management solution. This means that a very small piece of software (the agent) will need to be installed on each machine you wish to track. Not to worry, there are many ways to deploy the agent such as Active Directory group policy option, emailing it out to your end users, installing it manually to each machine, or using a domain logon script. Once the agent has been deployed it will instantaneously start reporting back hardware and software information. It is also important to note that our agent will work with Windows, Mac, Unix/Linix, Android, and iOS machines.
To access your assets in the application you will need to pull up the navigation bar on the left and select the ?Inventory? section. This will bring you to your list of assets and some information about each one. If you click into an individual asset you will be able to view all the information about that asset that the agent is reporting back. This information includes things like hardware, software, lifecycle, risks, attached devices, and associated incidents. In this screen shot of the asset overview you can see the other tabs where this information can be found.
You will notice in the asset overview that there are a few fields that you can change such as category, asset status, and owner. This makes it very easy for your technicians to make changes to the asset on the fly.
