Integrating Samanage with HipChat using Zapier

Zapier lets you easily connect the web apps you use, making it easy to automate tedious tasks.

HipChat is a hosted private chat service for your company and team. Share ideas and files in persistent group chat rooms, video chats, and more.

One use case of the Samanage/HipChat integration would be creating a new incident in your Samanage service desk after filtering a message received in HipChat.  Below are steps on how to set up this use case in Zapier.

1. After successfully logging in to Zapier, click the Make a Zap! link at the top right of the page.



2. Choose both your desired triggering app and corresponding trigger and action app and corresponding action.  



3. Select the HipChat account that you want to use for the integration.  If the HipChat account you chose is recognized and active, after setting up the account you should see the text Account is working.



4. Select the Samanage account that you want to use for the integration.  If the Samanage account you chose is recognized and active, after clicking the Test this Account button you should see the text Account is working?. 



5. Choose the filters that you would want to have create a new Incident in your Samanage Service Desk.  You can use fields from HipChat as filters.



6. Match up a message in HipChat to an incident in your Samanage Service Desk.  You can insert fields from HipChat.



7. Test the zap to ensure that data is retrieved.



8. Give the zap a name and turn it on to initiate the integration.



9. To see the zap in your list of zaps click the Dashboard link at the top of the page.
