How to build service request to notify approval groups when new employee will not be onboarded after all?

Sometimes we receive word that a new employee will not be starting with us after all, and we have already kicked off the approval tasks for the non-IT groups that create additional accounts for them. My issue is that I am trying to figure out the best way to track the "undoing" of these tasks, including notifying non-IT groups to delete the accounts for the person. How does everyone else deal with this? I don't want to have to ask our HR staff to submit yet another request for us to merge, but I also don't want to make life harder for me and my team by making our already miles-long Employee Onboarding workflow even longer.
