If a change is specific to a piece of hardware, it should be able to be attached to the asset just as incidents are.
You can attach a configuration item within the change request, but that never appears on the device/asset side. There needs to be a tab for changes like there is for incidents.

For my firm this will solve an issue of specific hardware needing custom setups. Basically when the device is replaced you can look at the attached changes and see if there was a special configuration for that device. My immediate case is a computer that handles the building security system interface, and then interface for the elevators; Both softwares require a static IP address. This information would be very handy to have reference to when we replace the hardware. We can just hard code the IP, and everything will work. Without that change being related to the inventory entry - some future person might have to troubleshoot elevators and a security system that isn't working.
