In order to determine the past issuances of assets to employees, perhaps the addition of a "Lifecycle" to the individual "User" could be added.
I had a laptop that was issued to Tim for two years. Recently, that laptop went to warranty and is no back in circulation, with a new laptop going to Tim. However, as I'm not sure what laptop Tim used to posses off the top of my head, I would have to check the lifecycles of each laptop to see when it was reclaimed from Tim, moved to Warranty, reissued, etc.
If when viewing the "User" profile of Tim, I could see all current inventory, as well as an audit log of past issued equipment, it would make sifting through the mess significantly easier, as well as make our compliance team happy to see the full history of not just the inventory, but the individual as well.
Wouldn't it be nice to say, "It's not the laptop, you've actually gone through 6 machines in 4 weeks, maybe it's 'you'?"
