When authenticating using the API, the username is case sensitive. This is different behaviour to login via the browser which ignores the username case.
For a consistent login experience, please consider ignoring the case of the username for the purpose of authenticating via the API. Or, if case sensitivity of API usernames is desirable for security reasons, then document this in the API documentation.
Also, please allow the case of email address (username) to be changed in the browser without running into the 'The email address provided is already in use.' error. I would like the ability to update my username to be in lowercase to avoid having to lookup the case significant characters each time I need to authenticate via the API.
