Not sure how this would work with Samanage, but would be a good thing to have from a software management perspective.
The idea would be that the contract held within the system would be able to say, for example, software A has 15 licences left. There is a catalogue item for said piece of software and when someone requests the item it would check the contract and say I can see there a 15 licences left so proceed to install (assuming no authorisation required).
When the 16th person requests the software the item knows there are no licences left and kicks off a different process to order new licences.
It could then go one step further by kicking off a job in something like Altiris or SCCM to then deploy the software. As well as update the contract that a licence has been used.
Just a thought, but would be good to have software management streamlined as this is an area we are struggling with.
