Samanage is pleased to offer a new feature designed to enhance the Admin experience. This enhancement enables you to add multiple Scope options. This allows you to achieve greater granularity and control over Role permissions and restrictions throughout your organization. In addition you can now drag and drop to reorder the Permissions. This is important as the system applies the permissions according to their order.

Let’s take a closer look at this feature. Note that when choosing multiple scope options of the same type - there is an OR conditional between them. When choosing multiple scope options of a different type, there is an ADD conditional between them. For example, if you choose Site: US and Site; UK as well as Category: HR, this means that the requester is in either the US or the UK and is in HR.

Here are some concrete examples of roles and permissions to help you get started using this new feature.

Let’s take the example of  a department head that is in charge of one department that is spread across several sites.

Another example is a technician that works with two different categories of tickets but only at the Australia location.

You could also scope solutions out by site and state - all in one line, allowing your requesters to only see solutions that are relevant to their site. Here is a role setup for a requester in Australia.

As we continue to improve Samanage, we appreciate your feedback. Let us know what you think about this enhancement!
