We are pleased to announce the release of the new Applications Integration capability. Applications Integration enables you to expand the power of the Service Catalog by integrating with 3rd party applications through automation. You will be able to increase time to delivery of service requests and increase efficiency by removing manual steps.

This capability enables you to include integrate with any application that provides an HTTP access point with user name/password authentication.  You can now automate an activity that has previously been managed as a manual task step in the Service Catalog Process.

Here are a few ideas as to how to take advantage of this new functionality:

  • Provision a new user in an identity service like Azure AD, Centrify, OneLogin, etc.
  • Automate employee status changes by calling out to HR applications like Kronos or Workday
  • Integrate service requests with your internally built applications to automate business processes
  • Last but not least, you can all the Samanage API to enable our application services through a service request

The features is comprised of two main components.  First, the Admin sets up basic information about available integrations for use in the Application Integrations section of Setup shown in the screen shot below:

After the basic information about available integrations is setup, defining what you are sending to the recieving application follows.  The Admin or Service Agent  would open the corresponding Service Catalog Item to define the Application Integration step in the Service Catalog Process.  In the Edit Application Integration step, additional information is specified, such as the application, URL, specific parameters, etc. as shown in the screen shot below:

After the Service Catalog item is approved, is made available and it is requested, the Application Integration step will be called as part of the Service Catalog Process execution.
